Update

I plan on taking at least this week off to recover and refresh mentally and physically. I don't plan on doing any structured training until December. I'm trying to eat and sleep as much as possible; it hasn't been too difficult because of Thanksgiving.

I ran about 3 miles yesterday and may do a 15k race this weekend. Otherwise, it has been nice just to relax. I'll list my goals soon some time before I pick up my training again.

I've been following your blog for a bit. I am doing IMLP in 2009 (2nd time) and have a question... what is your opinion of your computrainer.... how much it helps you and how?

Thanks, Fred

Hey Fred,

I have found the computrainer to be indispensable in my training. I believe you get enormous benefits out of it because you can track your progress over time by riding the same course over and over. It's easy to compare power outputs throughout the year. I tend to use the 3D courses. The biggest benefit, however, is that it is much more time-efficient, I think, than training outside. I can ride very early or very late. I don't have to worry about cars, lights, etc. I also avoid the time it takes to get ready, get to a place where I can ride, and then come home, shower, etc. With the computrainer, I can literally wake up and hop on 2 minutes later, or ride late on go to sleep pretty much right away. I wouldn't be in nearly the shape I am in without the computrainer.
