My goal is to train so that I can finish Ironman Florida '14 in under 10 hours. I finished in 10:12 and 10:14 respectively in '08 and '09. I haven't finished an Ironman since. I don't train like I used to. Not even close. Don't plan on it either. But think based on experience and a base built up over several years now, it is attainable. I plan to swim in 1:10; ride 5 hours, and run 3:40. This is my journey....

Tuesday: 88 mile bike; 3 mile run
Bike 4:02 w/2:30 overgear. Main workout of 2:30 was @ ~250w.
I'm not gunning for Kona this year. I won't even be close. But I do plan on doing what you suggest. That workout however is very rough and extremely taxing so you have to plan it correctly and at the right time. I will start focusing more on intervals this weekend but won't do that workout for another several weeks.

6 x 20 minutes at 310-330 is what you need if you want Kona.
